For those who want your regular kind of ‘yoga bio’, here tis!

Mei Lai Swan has been a devoted practitioner of yoga for over 15 years, and of meditation and eastern philosophies for 20 years. She shares her love for all the facets of yoga all around the globe, specialising particularly in the yoga of sound and mantra,  somatic movement practices, and deep self-inquiry.

With training in Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa/Hatha, Anusara and now a certified Embodied Flow™ teacher, she weaves her love of life, creativity and philosophy into a dynamic heart-centred yoga practice. Her slow-flow vinyasa classes inspire awareness, balance and joy, with an emphasis on alignment, breath and the practice of living from the heart. Her invitation is to deeply discover the wisdom of one’s own body and being, and through that make an offering to oneself, to life and to community.

Through her studies in yoga, buddhism, music, and contemporary somatic practices, she was drawn to the power of sound and voice as a tool for wellbeing, meditation, insight and devotion. Mei Lai is passionate about inviting and guiding others to discover these key aspects of yoga beyond the asana, to enhance consciousness, self-discovery, and the mundane and mystical experiences of life. In addition to yoga asana and meditation, she teaches the Yoga of Sound, Mantra and Voice on international yoga teacher trainings, retreats and workshops.

In all her offerings, Mei Lai draws on her background in community development, social work and as a musician and singer, weaving life and practice into a richness of creativity, connection and transformation. Above all, she is dedicated to love, inspiration, service, and connection.

Mei Lai is registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT500 and Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).

She is the director and lead teacher of Yoga for Humankind, a yoga school and social enterprise specialising in trainings in contemporary hatha, trauma-informed and community based yoga.
